Approved for Intermittent FMLA, can i be denied for a specific request if I have time left?
I've been approved for FMLA (intermittent). I was just curious, if I have the time left and I request it properly- Would the group administering the FMLA have any reason to deny my request?
Flare up of condition is the reason for the request. The doctor ESTIMATED i would be out one day a week but due to the inefficiency of the meds, my situation isn't improving much. If I request an additional day or two - would the administrator *in this case UNUM* have any grounds to refuse my request?

They CAN'T deny it, unless the intermittent leave is for bonding time with a child, at which time they don't have to approve intermittent. Other than that, if you have an approved FML, and you use it for what it is for, they can't deny.
The time son the FML designations are estimates. If you ALWAYS use more than the designation says, they can request a new desgination be made, etc. If it's one time here or there, then they generally would not touch it b/c it's an estimate.

They could have a reason. You don't say if the time is for a legitimate approved reason, just that you would request it 'properly.' so it depends on what you need the time for.
Edit: they should not have any reason to deny if you provide doctor's revision of the estimated time based on new examination of your condition.

I believe you don't understand FMLA. Family Medical Leave is provided by your employer. It is unpaid leave, however, you can use paid sick leave or paid personal time off if your employer provides it. Since you qualify, you receive 12 weeks (60 days) of Family Medical Leave per year.
