Intel HD 4000 Equivalent?

Ok, just bought a fujitsu AH532, it comes with Intel HD 4000 Graphics but I'm wondering what the equivalent card for Nvidia and AMD would be? Purely for when I go into a shop, pick up a game and look at the minimum specs I know I'm buying a game that can actually run on my system.

It's a Dual-Core i5 processor which runs at 2.5ghz (3.1 possible with turbo) and it runs things like Skyrim and Battlefield 2 with no problems whatsoever, but I know from using sites like NotebookCheck that it will struggle with the more demanding games like Battlefield 3, Crysis 3 etc

So I'd just like to know what the benchmark is for other graphics card developers so I can buy in confidence, there's nothing worse than picking up a new game then getting home and realising you can't run it without lag...

Thanks

The guy above really has no clue wtf hes talking about...

anyway, your graphics are integrated, meaning they are not very good in a overall gaming standpoint.

But as far as integrated graphics go, they are decent.

One thing to maximize performance of integrated graphics is running faster speed memory and running your memory in dual channel.

That cpu supports up to ddr3-1600, so you should use that if you are able to buy more/new memory.

And to run in dual channel you need 2 matching stick. So you either need 2x2GB or 2x4GB. Id opt for the latter, since integrated graphic use your ram, having 4GB is alittle bit on the lower side (4GB is more then enough with a dedicated graphics card, but the integrated graphics will probably take 300-800MB of it).

The more ram you have, the more it can allocate aswell.

But running in dual channel almost doubles memory bandwidth, so it really boosts integrated graphic performance.

So if you are running 8GB of dual channel ddr3-1600 memory, you can probably play most games on the market at low settings at 1024x768/1280x720/1366x768 resolutions decently.

As for what it is compared to a real card?

    http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-graphic...

    somewhere around there.

Though im not really sure which HD4000 that is.

As the one for desktop and laptop cpus vary in clock speed, and like an i7 i usually clocked faster then the i5's graphics.

Also with desktops you can run faster speed memory. and im not sure if their test was single or dual channel memory either.

An alternate card would be invisible. The intel HD series is an interrogated solution, meaning it's built into the motherboard. It's ment for home users only - IE video rendering, not games.

At the moment both AMD and Nvidea have similar naming conventions:

For AMD, it will be Radeon HD ABCD

Where A is the generation of the GPU

B is the performance ( 6 and above is considered to be gaming graphics)

C is the Performance subset, to compare to similar cards

    D is a placeholder 0, for looks.

Note that in general, a card with a higher B will outprofrom a card with a lower B, but higher C, IE an HD 6950 will outproform a HD7670.

    Nvida is similar:

    GeForce ABC

    A is the generation

B is performance, however Nvidea dragged it down two numbers, ie 4 and up is considered gaming graphics

    C is the placeholder 0.

Fortunatly, Intel has adopted a simler system for the HD graphics:

Inter HD 4000 --> Note the second number is 0, which accurately describes it's gaming value.

Also, Minh thats not true. I have intel HD4000 graphics integrated on my i7 2.9Ghz processor and i can play games like the whole Counter-Strike series at full graphics with no problem. I can also play Left 4 Dead 2, Killing Floor, Serious Sam BFE, Team Fortress 2 and Amnesia the Dark Descent on full graphics with little to no problem. Integrated graphics should not be completely underestimated. Yes, I would prefer a graphics card, but i cant shove one into my laptop.

Non - My 9400M from 2008 outperforms it. The HD series are for laptop meant for home users, so web browsing, movies, maybe some WoW or Minecraft.
