Do you think Roger Federer can win a Masters 1000 in 2013?

If yes, which one do you think is his best chance?

At the beginning of the year, I thought Indian Wells, Madrid and Cincinatti would be his best chances (yeah, exactly the ones he won last year, but also those where he has won the most times), now I'm not so sure.

BQ: Do you think he can/will a Grand Slam? Which one?

BQ2: Do you think he will ever be able to defeat Nadal again in his career?

I don't know, I've been a bit pessimistic about Roger the past few weeks, so I'd like to know your opinion.

Thanks :)

I think he can win a slam, most likely Wimbledon, he would fancy his chances against Djokovic and Murray on Grass, He might need some luck in avoiding Nadal, He will be hoping Djokovic and Nadal meet in the Semi's, with Djokovic winning, i could certainly see Federer winning a final vs Djokovic

Wimbledon will probably be his last chance, he is firmly 3rd favorite for the French Open, i wouldn't rule him out of contention, If Nadal isn't 100% fit then Federer will look to Seize his chance, Later in the year, i don't see him winning US Open or AO Open 2014.

BQ2 - Yes, Definitely, especially in a 3 set match, Their last 4 matches are 2-2 and Nadal Isn't unbeatable on a Hard Court as he is on Clay, There are a lot of Hard court tournaments still to come this year, Cincinnati, Canada, Paris, Shanghai, and the World Tour Finals, so Federer could beat Nadal in one of those tournaments i'm sure.

Yes he can definitely win a Masters 1000 this year. He might have gone on to do great at IW, but there was clearly a niggling back injury. And having Nadal in his QF, definitely didn't help him. I wouldn't say he will win the exact ones he won last year. But different ones, for example Paris at the end of the year? Good chance.

BQ: Wimbledon/ US Open. In 2010/2011 he's been very unlucky to not reach the final of the US. As long as he's motivated, playing well and is healthy at those two slams he is a massive factor. It's not even a stretch to think he may win both. But again if he does, he needs to finish his semi finals in 2 hours or less. He can't go consecutive 5 hour matches. Not at this age.

BQ2: Yes, in tennis their are always trades of wins and losses. Nadal isn't an untouchable god. Federer will get him at some point in this year. If Roger meets him at Wimbledon, I'd favour him more. People need to remember not that Nadal won at Wimbledon in 2008, but how he had to do it. The effort was gigantic.

    Hope this helps :)

In my opinion I think Roger is the favourite at the slower hard court events where Djokovic is either not on form or got knocked out early and Murray is somewhat fatigued. One event that springs to mind is Cincinnati, which coincidentally Roger won last year in emphatic style, routing Novak Djokovic in two sets, 6-0 7-6. Roger has also played a great deal of good tennis in Ohio and is certainly one of the favourites to win the event come August.

Other than that it can only be the Paris Masters or Montreal that I can Roger making the big hit in because it will be just after Wimbledon and some of the big names will be relatively tired from the tough weeks previous. Even then I see Andy Murray winning Montreal as he has been the top dog there for a few years (excluding 2012 (retired from a knee injury after the Olympics before his encounter with Raonic and 2011 (lost in the second round to South African Kevin Anderson). Novak Djokovic has also been on form in the Rogers Cup winning the last two consecutive years.

As for the Paris Masters, there is a great deal of 'no try' attitude from the top players especially the top 8 as it is now the week before the World Tour Finals in London and the eight that qualify will want to be in top shape and form to win the coveted trophy.

So therefore I feel that statistically and logically Roger can only win the two events which proceed or succeed a major event such as Wimbledon or the World Tour Finals.

BQ: No, I think he won't win a Grand Slam this year, Nadal is hungry for another title in France after his comeback and I feel that Murray and Djokovic will both split Wimbledon and the US Open, with Murray wanting to win his home title for the first time and silence the British doubters once and for all.

BQ2: I do think he can beat Rafa again in his career but only when Rafa is not on top form like last year in Indian Wells. Other than that I feel that Rafa is the younger and more determined now of the two.

Yes. His best chances are the last 4 remaining hard court Masters 1000.

BQ 1: He did it last year proving the naysayers wrong, so he is capable of winning another Grand Slam. Without knowing the future, I think he will win another Grand Slam. I don't know if he will 20 in all when he retires as he would like, but I'm sure he will play until 2016 so his children can remember him better when he was playing since they're still too young. I would say that Wimbledon and US Open are his best chances, but if he were to win another Grand Slam that is not either Wimbledon or the US Open, then his best bet would be the Australian Open since I'm quite sure that he will never win the French Open again.

BQ 2: Why not? Nadal isn't immortal, right? I would love to see a Federer vs Nadal final in the US Open. It almost happened a couple of times before. If it were to happen sometime if we are lucky to witness it, then I would favor his chances since the US Open courts are very fast, and I know that he can't always lose to Nadal in big matches. I mean, do you remember the Navaratilova and Evert rivalry? Evert was considered one of the best players in clay in her generation, only losing to Navratilova many times, even on clay, but then got the better of her finally one day. I would be surprised if Federer isn't able to beat Nadal again in a big match.

Roger Federer can win any event where his chief rivals (Nadal, Djokovic & Murray) either don't play, are physcially comprimised or flame out early.

The probability of his victories increase on any Indoor HardCourt . . . sounds an awful lot like Paris Indoor for a Masters 1000 . . .

Federer will always be a threat at Wimbledon . . . but I do not see it this year.

Federer can only beat Nadal if Nadal is injured or they play on an Indoor HardCourt. I don't ever see Federer beating Nadal on an Outdoor Court again . . . regardless of surface.

Both champions are aware of that particular change in the status of their rivalry.

depends on the draw an health status of the field that is given to him

    where he plays

but certainly i see cincinatti being a good place for him where he will tuck away a good win...

rogers cup is also favourable as well

he should win one slam this year.... it could even be paris, i think he could win that more then once in his career..
