why do some people let their dogs roam free?
A few of my neighbords let their dogs walk around the neighborhood, not only off-leash, but completely unsupervised. It is irritating because they charge at my lab puppy when I'm walking her and in the middle of loose-leash training. More than a few times I have had to pick up dog **** from my front yard that isn'y my dogs. Tonight, I was walking my dog when a rotty came charging at her. I stood in front of him and stopped him but he kept stalking us, following behind us and wouldn't back the **** off. He followed us all the way to my yard, making her anxious all the way. Usually when dogs act this way, the owners just walk in different directions, but of course this was impossible because it had no owner. I was so irritated that I almost kicked the animal in the face, but I figured it was the owner's fault not the dog's. Why can't people just get their lazy asses off the couch, leash their dogs and take them out to poop for like 3 minutes and then pick up the poo? I keep wondering why they even have a dog in the first place if they can't even satisfy its basic needs without annoying others. If anyone else has this problem, I'd appreciate some advise as to how to deal with these dogs, since I have no idea who their owners are.

Carry a can of RAID WASP & HORNET BLASTER; this product is;
- perfectly legal to carry
- will stop any human and/or dog in it's tracks
- does not permanently harm any mammal
- shoots further than mace
- is more accurate than mace
- is cheaper than mace
- no permit required
- once any dog is 'hit' it is unlikely it will ever bother you again. They remember !!

You were right not to kick the dog in the face when it's the owner who should be kicked in the face. Some people want all the great things that go along with owning a dog but none of the work. They just let their animal run loose to try and mate wherever they go or all the other things a dog will do without supervision . It doesn't matter how annoying it is to their neighbor. - Don't you understand , it's their RIGHT to do want they want no matter what it does to their neighbors. - Yea, right !!!! Unfortunately , If you live in a rural area they may not be much you can do about it . I have lived in city and in the country and it really dumb founds me that some people have no respect for their neighbors or their neighbors animal . I pay just as much as they do to live there . I don't want to deal with their animals and I don't make them deal with mine.

This also happened in a neighborhood I once lived in. I called the RSPCA as I was worried about the dog being hit by a car but they were useless. I was told to call the local dog warden and have him speak to the owners (it took me ages to figure out who they were) but was worried that the dog might be taken and as it was an overweight jack russell and in addition quite aggressive, be destroyed. Also its owners were horrible. I really didn't know what to do. Try and find out who the owners are and have a word with them, also as for dealing with the dogs speak to your vet as they may have a solution.

Are you in San Antonio by chance? Yes, this is the norm here. It's beyond disgusting! People need to be responsible for their dogs and quit this mentality of disposability when it comes to having pets.

First poster had some great suggestions. Why, people don't care, if they did they would supervise their dogs... My dog is never loose. If he ever was, I better be laying on the ground unable to move.
