Just how screwed up is nhl.com?
Four days ago, nhl.com posted this news story:
http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=664844
Summary - According to Brian Compton, the nhl.com Deputy Managing Editor, Michel Therrien gets nhl.com's nod as the Jack Adams Trophy Winner. The exact quote:
"At the end of the day, though, the bulk of credit has to go to coach Michel Therrien. That's why, at the three-quarter mark of the schedule, Therrien has earned NHL.com's nod for the Jack Adams Trophy."
Today, nhl.com posts this news story:
http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=664268
Summary - "The Great 8 Debate" on who nhl.com thinks will win the Jack Adams Trophy. Michel Therrien isn't even MENTIONED in the article.
How screwed up is nhl.com?
Oh I read both articles K-Fleur, the question should be "did you read the question"? Shouldn't nhl.com have at least NOTED that Therrien had been their pick for the Jack Adams Award? I know that nhl.com doesn't get to choose who wins it but certainly they should point out that they were surprised that Therrien didn't get a single vote when they themselves gave him the nod as "Coach of the Year"?

Well the 2nd article is about who is the best coach in the NHL all together not who should win the Jack Adams trophy, while the first is about who has been the best coach this season.
Therrien is definitely top 2 this season, but looking at the list on the 2nd article it's hard to put him in the top 8 coaches after looking at how he has been a relatively mediocre coach before this season.
Are you sure that you actually read the articles?
Edit: As I said, Therrien should not get a mention when you consider the fact that he has been a mediocre coach up until this season. To start mentioning Therrien (who has been average for his whole career up until this shortened season) as a top 8 coach in the NHL would be incredibly premature at this point.

One article written by Brian Compton, the other by Corey Masiak. They're opinion pieces...no more, no less.
A few other things to consider-
1) Do Compton or Masiak have a vote for the Jack Adams award? Says here they don't.
2) Did Compton poll the members of the NHL Broadcasters Association (who vote on this) or did he simply poll other writers (who don't)? Did he talk to them? Without looking at either's original notes, it's impossible to know specifics, but you're trying to connect the dots with no understanding or knowledge of how journalism works.
3) Same with Masiak.
4) Do you understand how opinion pieces work? I do. I worked as a print journalist for three years (before the newspaper industry turned into its death spiral); typically the news division and opinion/editorial departments are completely separate; by that- they don't talk. The news division write news, and opinion/editorial write opinion pieces and commentary. To that, it's fairly common that opinion writers don't work with each other either.

because Michelle terrian is not the coach of the year. Bruce Boudreau, Randy Carlyle, and Paul MacLean are the coach of the year nominees
