Its worth it if your making food in smaller batches. Usually until they start eating finger foods. Depending where you live check with Kohl's they usually have a sale on them I bought one yesterday for 35$ compared to 80$

A fork is cheaper! Really, most babies at 6 months don't need bland runny purees. But if you choose to puree, you can just fork mash the soft fruits and veggies you have at your meal times (just without added salts, fats, sugars). I would take a spoon size piece off a banana I was having for breakfast, and just fork mash for baby to join me. You can add a bit of breast milk or formula if you want it thinner.

.
As for the baby bullet, all marketing gimmick. Better, just get one of those $20 stick blenders to puree the food. The stick blender can make smoothies, salad dressings, and all sorts of food for the family for years to come. That baby bullet will be done and gone, plus many reports say the plastic jars crackle if you freeze and reheat.
Source(s): EDIT -- I have hand mashed my own applesauce like grandma did for years! And many many babies have eaten that applesauce from 6 months and older. Grandma did this for many fruits like peaches and plums. They just need cooked first till soft. . For most babies, there is NO medical reason for baby to eat watery bland mushy smooth puree. There are even moms who skip the whole puree thing and go straight to soft finger foods for baby (baby led weaning). - Suzy QLv 78 years ago
Definitely not. Get a regular blender or stick blender (my favourite) that you can also use in your own cooking. That will last you for years, instead of the few months from starting solids to introducing food in pieces instead of blended to mush.
By the way, soft fruits CAN be fork mashed, and apple is far easier to process as apple sauce. Use heat to soften fruits the same way as vegetables.
