I only can't sleep when I have to wake up at a certain hour.
Inevitably I always wake up in the middle of the night and toss and turn for a couple of hours... but then I fall asleep again deeply, and usually sleep until 10 or later.
On days where I have a morning shift (9:30am), I have to wake up 2 hours before my shift starts.
One hour to get showered and ready and out the door... and 30 minutes to arrive at work 15 miles away... and 30 to compensate for any variables... like construction or heavy traffic from other circumstances.
I will wake up at like 2:30am... and not fall back asleep.
My alarm blares at 7:20am and I am an ABSOLUTE mess.
I HATE it.

I've been battling insomnia for almost three months now and I totally understand how frustrating it is. Now I just try my best to make good sleeping practices by going to sleep before 10. Sometimes I would be awake until four in the morning but I try to keep a positive mind by thinking I would make it through the next day just fine. I believe thinking positively reduces the anxiety a bit and its better than thinking "why can' t I fall when everyone else around me can?" On nights when I know that I will not be able to fall asleep no matter what, I would try reading a boring book and focus hard on it until my eyes and mind are both tired. I found this to be very helpful!:D Good luck!

I don't think I'm insomnia, although I do have some sleepless nights. Where I sleep at like 6am and wake up at 7am for school. It happened to me about 4 times. I was sorta emotional and mad that I couldn't sleep whatsoever. I watched TV and laid down on my bed doing nothing. What I did to fix this is to not sleep for the whole day till 10pm or 11pm, and it worked.
