How many of your "Christian" friends are really Atheists?

You probably have no idea, but this is very true. Why? Discrimination by the religious is common. There is a perception that Atheists must be dishonest or immoral among other things, as well as a threat to the church- and therefore are not to be trusted or be involved with. Atheists know this is prejudice and fantasy, and of course see no reason to invite it.

How do they avoid that? When you make some comment about God solving your problem or accepting his will, they nod and give you an uh-huh- leaving you with the perception that they agree. Atheists who run businesses know of this discrimination too, so they may also pretend to be religious. Politicians know which way the wind blows, so Atheist politicians must seriously pretend to be be believers in order to get an even chance at the polls. All people often do what they must do to avoid conflict, and without making a false claim they can easily have you thinking they believe just what you do and that makes you comfortable.

It's a fact, they're everywhere. Some of them go to church with you. And so long as you didn't know that, everything was fine. Now, you have a problem. That's because the threat of Atheism does not come from Atheists at all, but from your perception and fear of the idea.

Think about it. How many of those around you just keep quiet about their true beliefs, and allow you to think they agree in order to avoid senseless, fruitless arguments and religious discrimination?

True. People who have nagging doubts about their positions want to surround themselves with people of the same beliefs. Thus, there is prejudice by the religious against not only atheism, but any conflicting religion or belief. Anything that disagrees is a threat to them. Evolution can't be real, because if it is the Bible is not. Simple as that.

Atheist beliefs are virtually immune to the artificial logic of religion, but the reverse is not that way. An atheist is comfortable around others of all beliefs, so long as they keep it to themselves.

I suspect that the real number of atheists in America is closer to 50% of our population, and of course is substantially larger in all other developed nations where it is not cause for discrimination.

Avoid the topic of religion in any respect costs, there will likely be an argument and you're going to lose, and emerge as getting hurt by using your new buddies. My great buddy is agnostic/atheist, and we've got mentioned faith before, but that's cause of..Stuff, that you simply go to your first-class buddy for, and he or she's without doubt no longer anti-theist. If they are...I do not want you to inform you to drop your associates, considering they're your associates, nevertheless it feels like they are going to offer you a hard time over the whole faith thing. However alternatively i don't rather recognize on account that like I stated, i have not been neighbors with an anti-theist, and that i do not know your pals, they could be accepting. Excellent good fortune, i am hoping that you may stay neighbors.

Believe me my friends are a lot out spoken than I am in my beliefs! They are atheist (my boyfriend as well), Taoism, Assembly of God (Lord help me-I love their excitement) and some of have literally just created their own religions up and of course I have other Christian/Catholic friends as well. I know who is who. We have fun in our discussions. Very different then this place. Atheist are the only ones who seem to get easily agitated and cannot have a friendly conversation. Too bad.

It's a well known phenomenon, and many atheists once pretended to be Christian. I did. It was a matter of survival for me. I say that figuratively, but for some people it is very literally a matter of survival.

I just wish there was a way to know how many.

You seem to be under the impression that this is something that Christians

should worry about. If you will notice, most if not all of your answers are coming from

    your fellow atheists.

"Let both grow together until the harvest; and in the time of the harvest I will say to the

reapers, Gather together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them, but

gather the wheat into my barn." (Matt.13:30)

So Jesus is the one who will separate the real Christians from the phonies. That isn't

our problem but you seem to have made it yours.
