Small Claims Court filing question?

If someone has broken a contract for sending me payments and lives in a different state than me, which state/county would a small claims court filing need to take place?

Would I have to go file it in their court or could I do it in my home state?

Most venues are proper when they are in the county where the defendant lives. So more than likely, you'll have to file it where they live.
