Republicans & conservative on our gun debate & politics going ahead?

Can conservatives ever claim their doing the "will of the american people" if they have less than an average of 90% in the polls? Due to the vote on background checks failed even with 90% approval ( http://www.politifact.com/texas/statements/2013/ap... ). How can they face Americans ever again & say they're doing what Americans want since none of their proposals will ever have 90%?

Update:

Dispute the 90%?  Ok lets say those polls are wrong, like the faulty Obama re-election polls.  I'd love to see 3 nationally recognized polls showing less than 70% for background checks.

As far as the guy that that says these bills wouldn't effect recent shootings WRONG.  First, here in Chicago straw purchasing & gun running is how the guns get on the streets in the first place.  Those 2 things would have been addressed in the bill.  Had the banning of large clips stayed in place from over a decade ago.  Some of the victims of AZ, CO, & CT would still be alive.  Seeing as each incident involved clips larger than 10 rounds.  In each case there were servivors when guns were reloaded or jammed.

As far as constitutional right not up for a vote, your right.  But the can & do need to have restrictions.  Just like slander, libel, and purjury are restrictions on the 1st amendment.  So too is the fact that lawful American citizens can't own rocket propelled granade launchers or

Certainly they can claim they were doing the people's will. Those poll questions were faulty.

See the link (also from Politifact) discussing the questions and results.

Not one time was a truthful question asked.

Here's an example of a truthful question, "Would you support a Universal Background Check on all gun sales, knowing that the data of who bought what guns and where they live, will be recorded in an FBI database (Gun Registration)?"

You ask that question, and your results will be wildly different!

First of all, I dispute the 90%. I know way too many people that disagree with that, there is no way it is 90%. Second, even if it IS 90%, the 90% is wrong. If 90% of people wanted to make it the law that everyone had to be in church on Sunday morning, would that make it right? Or would it still be a violation of the constitution? Thank God we have some that still stand up for what is right.

Wholy $HIT 945 people polled. Sounds like a majority to me. Less than .5% of the population polled not very valid

    1. That 90% number has been proven false.

    2. Constitutional rights are not subject to opinion polls.

Why is it that you don't understand that the only effect of increasing standards on background checks would have had absolutely no effect on any of the recent shootings?
