Sony Handycam problems.. please help!?

I just got a Sony Handycam HDR-CX190 for my birthday and I cannot get the videos I took to download onto my Macbook OS X 10.6.8 or into iMovie 11 version 9.0.4. I also tried converting the files in WonTube Free Video Converter with no luck. Please help me get the files on my Macbook so I can edit them!!

Update:

my laptop isnt recognizing that anything is plugged in when I use the usb built in to the camera.

    You should be able to download with the supplied software and your usb cord.

    I had one of those , and they are hi8 and all analog , I had one of those you're talking about .. with the nightvision .. completely analog , grab a analog to digital video converter , via searching analog to digital video converter on Google , %. one which matches you the acceptable. Firewire under no circumstances supported those , vista under no circumstances supported it both ..
