(10pts) Who are some good, unknown (possibly local to you) rock/hard rock/alternative bands?

I love expanding my music library, especially with newer bands that don't have much of a following yet. The bands I tend to like the most generally feature a powerful or overpowering vocalist and then also have good, strong guitar rhythms/riffs to back the vocalist up.     Atoms for Peace. They're a supergroup composed of Thom Yorke (Radiohead) Flea (Red hot Chili Peppers) and a few members of R.E.M. They're new Album, Amok, is fantastic. You should really check them out!

    If you want a chill amazing band with a wide range of music play (calm/soothing-upbeat good mood), you have got to go with My Morning Jacket, their vocalist, Jim James, has the most amazing voice. Other good bands, Alt-J, The Shins, Cage the Elephant, Broken Bells. If you want anymore I'd be glad to share. Oh! Animal Collective is great too.

    This one is old, not even sure if they're around anymore, but there was this alt band called 'swingfly.' I love them.
