How are we to calculate the arithmetic mean age for the data?

    It cannot be calculated.

    Typically, to calculate the mean age, you take the midpoint of the interval and multiply it by the number of people to get the sum of that catagory. You then add up all the sums, and divide by the total number of people.

    You data is "fine" until you get to the last catagory. Since it is open ended, you cannot find the mid point, therefore you cannot compute the mean.

    You CAN compute the median.
