What is the difference between sun sign and rising sign ?

I have scorpio sun and scorpio rising. Are they the same things ? Also what are the traits for this placement ?

    Sun is how you are personally, deep down. Rising is how other people see you. Since you are Scorpio in both, people would see you as an honest person. =)
