    Hello. The proper way to simplify this expression is the following:

    ♣ Apply the formula a² - b² = (a - b)(a + b) in the numerator.

    ♣ Factor out the x in the denominator.

    ♣ Finally, remove the (x + 5) in both places.

    (x² - 25) / (x² + 5x) =

    (x - 5)(x + 5) / x(x + 5) =

    (x - 5) / x

    Done! You now have the simplified expression. Hope that helped!

    x^2-25/x^2+5x

    = [ (x-5)(x+5) ] / [ x(x+5) ] {apply difference of perfect squares rule on numerator, take x as a common factor out of denominator}

    Now you have x+5 in both the numerator and denominator which cancel

    =(x-5)/x or 1 - 5/x

    No brackets and one is left second guessing your question.

    Hopefully it is this (x^2-25)/(x^2+5x)

    (x-5)(x+5)/x(x+5) = (x-5)/x
