Why did Texas politicians deny aid to hurricane sandy homeless?
Hurricane sandy was an unavoidable natural disaster. But now, after an explosion as a fertilizer distributor that was completely avoidable they are demanding, and will get federal aid. Texas has long considered the EPA as a waste of time and money and did not inspect the facility any more than looking at the building from the outside. Then, in their Texas wisdom, they built homes, apartments, nursing homes and schools within yards of a ticking time bomb.
I feel sorry for the people who were killed and injured and their families who are left to suffer, but the state of Texas should be paying for their own stupidity, not the American taxpayers.

The reason the Texas reps and almost every other republican in congress voted against Sandy relief was because those victims lived in a blue state and republicans can't accept that they lost the election because their candidate was a poor choice.

For the usual reasons Republicans vote against Democratic bills, and the Reason Democrats do it.
Democrats pork barrel projects included in a unrelated bill. Then when Republicans vote against it the Democrats whine "See, See they are mean".

Essential emergency services is a function of the government to handle catastrophes. Having and paying property insurance is an individuals or businesses responsibility to recover losses incurred. If the owners of the plant were negligent then they will be responsible for compensating the victims. Hopefully they have very good insurance.

Perhaps you forgot about the libs denying aid when half of West Texas was burning last year. Petty politics was the reason then, so turn around is fair play now. And with your obvious distain for Texas and its people why would you want on need any help from a bunch of pointy-toed hicks?
