Why are atheists generally pro-choice?

Beside that every person is god-designed and deserves a chance to live, the idea that life starts at conception is not a biblical concept. I do believe that a human fetus is a living organism with semi-developed emotional and cognitive abilities.

"Why are atheists generally pro-choice?" Because I cannot look a woman in the eye and say, "You MUST deliver this baby. It does not matter if you were just not careful during sex. It does not matter if you were raped. It does not matter if having the child will likely kill you. Your child's life is more valuable than your own in all circumstances."

"Beside that every person is god-designed" Flat out lie. We are designed by evolution, not any god or gods.

" and deserves a chance to live" So every time a woman has a period, she is also guilty because her un-conceived child "deserves a chance to live" right?

" the idea that life starts at conception is not a biblical concept." Nor do I think anyone claims it is. Indeed, a child in the Bible is worth no money until they are 1 month old, and a girl baby is worth half as much as a male baby. (Lev 27:6)

" I do believe that a human fetus is a living organism with semi-developed emotional and cognitive abilities." What you believe in irrelevant towards determining truth and legal issues.

You're looking at the question backwards; you *should* be asking, "Why aren't more theists Pro-Choice?" (and a good many of them are).

Atheists are generally Pro-Choice, because it requires a good reason to *be* Pro-Life (a position that entails granting rights to a fetus at the expense of a woman's most fundamental right to dominion over her own body), and there simply isn't one. I explain *why* there isn't a good reason, in *extensive* detail, here:

    "Abortion": https://sites.google.com/site/alexisbrookex/aborti...

"Beside that every person is god-designed and deserves a chance to live, the idea that life starts at conception is not a biblical concept."

Except that a fetus is not a person, which is the key point in the issue.

"I do believe that a human fetus is a living organism with semi-developed emotional and cognitive abilities."

Yes, a human fetus possesses "cognitive abilities"... after the 30th week of gestation, which is six weeks later than abortion is legal as an elective procedure in *any* state in America. So, the issue is moot.

Look at Ireland where a woman died because she was refused an abortion when the fetus was killing both of them!

There is no black and white here!

The anti abortion debate would rather see mothers die than abort a fetus that has no chance of survival and that is why they are losing the battle and always will do until they see common sense!

That is why most atheists support abortion at least in part because there is a good case for it! But if the anti abortion lobby stopped their extremism they would find a lot of support from atheists in restricting abortion on demand!.

Because the decision should belong to the woman and shouldn't be interfered with by federal or state authorities.

"Beside that every person is god-designed and deserves a chance to live"

Even if the woman's life is in danger or that the fetus is dead or inviable?

that might be because atheists think realistically.

good for you, you're pro-life. but have you ever stopped to think about the poor children who are born because of people like you? children who end up put up for adoption, some to good adopted families, but what about the ones who end up in foster care and turn 18 and have no where to go? their lives consist of them STRUGGLING to try to make it on their own, all because someone could have avoided letting this life continue when they were a cluster of cells.

"your morality is deeply lacking is all you want is a child born, but not a child fed, not a child educated, and not a child housed. that's not pro-life, that's pro-birth"

i somewhat do not understand. i understand lots who're anti-abortion in order to communicate, interior the sense that they don't imagine it really is appropriate, and may not in any respect evaluate having one themselves, except for as a very last result at the same time as well being themes come into play. yet as you're saying they are all actual professional-determination. perhaps they merely recognize they haven't any appropriate to rigidity their morality on human beings at the same time as it really is over themes that do not impact them in any respect.

Nobody is pro abortion, not to my knowledge anyway. But, it's nobody's damned business except the woman's. If she chooses to take advice from her doctor, lawyer, friends, or religious leader, fine.

But the key word there is 'choice'. HER choice.

Because they are generally better educated, including about biology. Whatever "cognitive abilities" a tiny clump of cells may have, they are nothing compared to those of the mother, and her well-being is the priority.

I'm pro-choice because I'm a woman, and I'm the only one who has the right to make decisions about my body. And I don't subscribe to all that god-designed BS.

  • Sigh...I'm pro-life. Not everyone will share the same opinions. I bet you could find christians that are pro-choice.
