Do you think in 200 years, school teachers will be explaining to children about our origins?

And they will say things like "well over 200 years ago, the Theory of Evolution we now use and know very well, was proven to all of humankind as the origins of our existence. And yet, despite all the evidence, there was still a large portion of the society within the developed, Western World who denied it... These were called 'creationists', now remember that name class it WILL be on our test next week!"

And then all those young schoolchildren of about 10 years old will think, with the same look on their face we had when we learnt people used to think the Earth was flat, "Wow... Those creationists were STUPID back then"

Update:

LFC Danny - In science Theory does mean fact ;)

@ Apollo - Yes, I meant to put this in R&S. My bad.

Update 2:

@ Skyfox - Norse people believed the World was flat. And although Aristotle had the right idea, the Roman Catholic Church incredibly managed to cause the World to take a step back in education, and even as far as the Middle Ages, people in West/North Europe believed the Earth was flat, including the King Henry VII, in fact he rejected Christopher Columbus's ideas that the Earth was not flat and would not endorse his trip as he didn't think it worthwhile (incidentally bringing in centuries of Spanish and Portuguese financial dominance)

Update 3:

@ Skyfox - Yes, but now it is just one group of people who believe the Theory of Evolution is wrong - Creationists, just like only some people thought it was flat, it was a large enough percentage for their views to have an impact...

Update 4:

@ Skyfox - That is true what you say about Galileo and Evolution. He wasn't even the first to conceive such a notion, even before Socrates it was a notion that was explored, by Greek philosopher Anaximander, who theorized that all life started in the oceans. But it was Darwin who started to put the pieces together.

As for the 'Flat Earth' theory, there is plenty of record suggesting that people believed the Earth to be flat, the Greeks certainly did before Aristotle, Ancient Japan and Ancient China believed the same thing. As did the Ancient Indians and even 9th Century Islam pushed the notion of 'Flat Earth', I'll have to take your word for it about the European Middle Ages (though there are records citing a 'disk' to describe the Earth), but at some point people DID very much believe the Earth to be flat.

Update 5:

No TD's from me.

They'll be explaining why North Korea bombed America and Why 10% Of the World is Dieing of Starvation .

In 200 Years there will be a Population of about 30 Billion, so our Resources will be Almost Gone.

In the Next 100 Years we will have to Start Building Domes on Mars in which we can Live so Humanity doesn't cease to Exist.

    With Only the Rich Left.

EDIT: If you look at my Question in the R&S About Immortality, the Article in the Link says that People will Start Living for Centuries in the Future so the Birth/Death rate will be Outstanding.

In 200 Years Humanity will be Divided between hte Poor and the Rich, With the Rich being in Power and the Poor hopeless

This may shock you, but people never really thought the Earth was flat. Even in the time of Aristotle people knew the Earth was a sphere (or oblate spheroid, but close enough)

The misconception came from Victorian scholars that tried to portray our early ancestors as foolish and lacking intellect or logical reasoning in an attempt to make themselves sound superior and more advanced as a society.

Our ancestors were more intelligent than society gives them credit for.

Edit: just because one culture did doesn't mean everyone else shared the same idea.

Same with the Roman Catholic Church; people HAD the right idea, they tried to stifle it to protect THEIR idea. People have know for millennia the world wasn't flat, and that was the majority view long before the RCC even existed.

Edit: Darwin wasn't the first person who believed in evolution, he was the first to go against religious doctrine. There are plenty of things Galileo discovered which has never seen the light of day thanks to religious oppression of the "age of discovery". Most, if not all of society had more pressing concerns: famine, plagues, disease, war, to be bothered by such trifle discoveries or contemplations about life, but the shape of the world wasn't one of them, and if it was nobody stuck to the belief the world was "flat".

It's easy to make comparisons with our civilisation and there's, but we're allowed much more cultural and societal freedoms to learn. Back then people didn't. We don't have to worry about food, clean water, warmth or clothing. People back then did not believe the world was flat. This is an accepted fact by universities the world over.

But here, have a look at this yourself as I feel i'm beginning to repeat myself. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TDXrpNk3fy4

That is not the question. They will teach in 200 years our origins like they did since 2000 years (maybe another or an updated version if the theory is neither creation nor evolution. Both are dogma and do not change. That is the problem of both.): The question is: is it correct, what teachers tell us since the beginning until the end of time?

What is the difference between God and a teacher? God knows everything, a teacher knows everything better.

Once religion is completely wiped out in the future, humans will look back and laugh at those who had such retarded beliefs and denied science.
