What if my former boss won’t pay me my last check? Please any advice?

I work in the cosmetology industry and I just started working for this lady shop about 5 weeks ago and I get pay bi weekly, one week 100% cash and the other 100% check. I quit about 3 days ago and now fear my boss won't pay me my last check. I recently found out a worker that had worked there in the past and he got dub out of his last pay check. He told me he show up to get his check but she (my former boss) refused to pay and act dumb and even called the police on him saying that he was disturbing her business. His check was only for a day or two so he didn’t bother to follow up but mine was over 10 days and worth over $900. I believe she will do it because she takes advantages of her workers. The reason I quit was because she would take my tips that customers would tip me. For example, a customer that I serviced would put $5 as tips on the total bill with her credit card but my boss would tell me she didn’t and take that money for herself. I found out and quit soon after. I know this is really lengthy but im just so mad right now. What can I do if she plays dumb and refuse to pay me? Thank you so much

Update:

ADDED: Please, i'm looking for legal advices that i can take. I'm not doing anything illegal like key her car and get in trouble for it.

Tell her you'll contact your state's labor board if she doesn't have your check ready for you "tomorrow" and then follow through with contacting them. I don't know why you're sometimes paid by check and sometimes by cash. If the cash payment isn't recorded for tax purposes, that could be a big problem for you and her. That should get her attention with the threat of reporting it.

i understand a great number of people right here on Yahoo solutions at modern ask you to pass to a criminal expert yet they simply do no longer understand that the only reason a individual is looking a question right it incredibly is by technique of the fact they are in a position to't arise with the money for one. And besides referring you to a criminal expert is probably no longer answering your question. The regulation is incredibly sparkling on getting paid for artwork which you probably did. in case you labored the hours and your employer is refusing to pay you considering which you end with out giving a month's observe, she merely won't be able to try this legally. merely telephone her to be certain what has occurred on your cheque or stroll into the shop or workplace with a relative sooner or later and ask her once you will receives a commission on your artwork. If she refuses to pay you remind her that legally you're entitled to receives a commission and leaving the activity with out observe is not any reason to withhold pay you. If she nonetheless refuses then you incredibly could desire to threaten to take her to courtroom and then detect a small courtroom on your section to progression the difficulty. besides the fact that if she isn't paying you for the extra hours which you claimed you labored and he or she is disputing then you incredibly have no possibility of having that money. Its your observe against hers and he or she is the boss so if she says you probably did no longer artwork extra hours and you have no evidence then there's no longer something you're able to do.

If she does not pay, hire an Employment Lawyer. The employment lawyer gets paid by the employer if they win. So you have nothing to lose.

If she doesn't pay you then go to your local labor relations board and file a complaint. You can also take them to small claims court.
