When do pregnant women go to an ultrasound?

I have a class (child Development) and I can't find this anywhere in my book!!

Do you have one right when you find out that you are pregnant? Do you get it when you want? Or does you doctor have to tell them when to get one?

Experts in Canada recommend that all women have an ultrasound when they are pregnant. The best time to do this is between 18 and 22 weeks of pregnancy.

Most women get their first ultrasound between 5 and 8 weeks. It usually depends on the doctor, because some want to wait a bit.

After that you can get one around 12 weeks and 18-20 weeks. Some women get them around 16 weeks as well. For those that are high risk, they get scan done more often than those with a normal pregnancy. How often depends on why they are high risk and how the general health & measurements are at that point.

it definitely relies upon on your coverage. The 20 week ultrasound is to no longer locate out the gender. that's the anatomy test the place they determine all your little one's physique areas and organs have formed outstanding. it is likewise to determine the placenta, cervix, umbilical cord, and uterus to determine each and every thing is working wisely. I had scheduled ultrasounds at 7 weeks and 3 days, 12 weeks and 2 days, and 18 weeks and 3 days. I additionally had an ultrasound at 8 weeks and 2 days on the ER with the aid of fact of blood clots. i can't be having any further ultrasounds except something is going incorrect and that i replace into severe possibility or my uterus starts off measuring smaller/larger then it may be at my prenatal appointments. i'm figuring out directly to pay for a three-D/4D non-compulsory ultrasound at a close-by medical institution around 32 weeks yet that's no longer with the aid of my physician's workplace. somewhat verify with your physician with the aid of fact some insurances will conceal extra ultrasounds. only keep in mind that your physician does not do ultrasounds on your excitement and entertainment, she/he does them to be sure whether or no longer your woman offspring is healthy.

normally it is between 8-12 weeks, depending on the doctors office. Most Doctors unless you have been doing fertility treatment see you at week 9 or 10. Most OBGYN' s wait to at least 8 weeks due to the chance of miscarriage, it is higher before week 8, because the embryo is still in it's beginning stages.

hope this helped :) Good luck

I got mine done at 7 weeks pregnant.

  • depends on your doctor and medical problems

my doctor had me have one at 8 weeks(first trimester screening), then one at 13 weeks(second trimester screening), and then one at 18 weeks(babies sex), then one at 30 weeks but the 30 week one was because of blood pressure problems then one at 36 weeks which is routine for him and i didn't have another after that.
