Toilet is clogged, few weeks later brown liquid filled the bathtub?

We are renting a house. It has one half and one full bath. The toilet in the half bath stopped working. Me and my family tried to plunge it for hours. We even bought chemicals to assist declogging it but to no avail so we just used the other bathroom.

A few weeks later now the bathtub has filled nearly to the top with brown liquid with climpy stuff. It looks like hot coco when you dont mix it right. It does not smell like poop thankfully but I'm still not 100% certain that it isn't. I realize that my parents should hurry and call a plumber but what exactly do you think is going on?

My parents have been wasting time speculating, my suggestion was that the toilet obviously has regurgitated in the bathtub without the smell somehow. IDK, but what do you think? How much should they expect to pay?

Update:

Thanks. I do not live on a slope and it is a one story house.

Your toilet backed up into your bathtub alright go to home depot and buy a auger for toilets for around 8 to ten bucks dollars once it is clear run hot water down the drain to make sure it runs smooth and poop once again runs down hill http://www.homedepot.com/p/BrassCraft-Homeowner-To... PS if that doesn't work then call a plumber it will run around a hundred

Frequently the drain from the bathtub joins the soil stack (Pipe that the bathroom sits on top of) just under the toilet. Dose the bathtub drain excellent? So if water is backing up in to the tub that will mean the blockage is beneath the place the 2 pipes meet. Are there any open sinks or drains at a curb degree? (Do you've a basement? Oops it just came to me. You've got a septic method do not you? If that's the case then you can also well have got to have your septic tank pumped out. Investigate the telephone book for some one close you. If that handiest helps for a at the same time there might be something fallacious together with your drain area. (the place the water flows faraway from the septic tank.) * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * If I used to be wrong about the septic system & the bathtub drains a bit of you could pour drain cleaner down the bathtub drain. It is going to take a half gallon or extra to reach the stoppage. You do not need to get essentially the most exspensive. It's extra primary to get enough liguid cleaner. It can be quality not to use most drain cleaners on septic methods. There are some which are friendly to sepic techniques although. I hope that matters prove ok.

Call a plumber. This brown liquid is dilute sewage. This is dangerous as it contains pathogenic bacteria which can make you sick. Call your landlord and tell the landlord you have an emergency situation and have called a plumber, then describe it as you have here.

It sounds like you are living on a slope and there is blockage in the main sewer line below your house and so sewage from everything uphill from you is now coming into your bathroom. You need the plumber to check this and the plumber will contact the city about this problem. There is no way you can fix this problem if this is the cause.

Otherwise you are living in a two-story building and the blockage is in the sewer line on the property and water flushed from the upper story can't get out and is filling the tub.

Check the sewer main.....tonys right...if a septic drain field and tank are saturated..ditto-needs pumping

get a plumber before it runs out on the floor....

  • Does it taste like hot cocoa? Let me know. The brown clumps are probably marshmallows. Taste it.
