Carp fishing questions?
A lot of contributors might have guessed by now that i fish quite a bit, predominantly i am a fly fisherman but i work a lot with bait too. I've used every bait under the sun to catch carp in numerous states and countless lakes. But in my hometown is a lake that about 6 years ago someone transplanted carp into, since i discovered the fish by finding corpses and using my underwater camera, i cannot freaking catch them, the carp are either terribly smart or horrendously stupid. no one else fishes for them in the lake and I've tried dozens of methods and baits with no success. It's a western Washington lake and has fairly dark water, the lake contains two species of planted trout, large mouth, catfish, perch, and a few bluegill. On my camera i only see carp in the 6-8 pound range and they stay suspended in the water column most of the year, never heading to the shallows or spawn like normal carp. Any recommendations or ideas?

What kind of carp are they? Might be grass carp. They tend to be more vegetarian. I've never been able to catch one of them on a lure or bait. Some places stock them to keep the weeds down.

whats wrong with fishing for catfish? even they put up a good fight as well ,fish catfish deep on the bottom with some fresh chicken liver wrapped with some sowing string around a treble hook . im giving you this advice just incase you want to catch some catfish however if you do end up catching a carp trying cutting it up in pieces and use it as bait i heard that works too. or get some stink bait or punch bait. by the way hotdogs catch cafish and carp ive caught carp on hotdogs as well as catfish on hotdogs .

you dont have to transport fish for them to be in a lake, if you just fill an area with water there will be fish in there very quickly and this is do to the ducks and other avians which wade in water and get the spawn on their down. As they fly to another lake they transport the unchatches species and it self introduces itself into new waters. Also there are numerous techniques for catching all types of carp so lets discuss them on my website =)

Could be grass carp and those you don't catch with a rod normaly. but I suggest trying to snag it or go by a bow used for fish. very fun and carp are good eating ... if you know what ur doing.
