Why is a child's life more valuable than an adult's?

Update:

Nowadays though it seems like by the time children are young adults, they have experienced most of life.

Update 2:

Isn't a life still a life though?

Update 3:

@ Randy D What about those people who wait to start a business until their 50's? My mother is currently doing that. Some people don't reach their full potential until they're older.

may be because he has more time to improve himself and better people around him supporting him.

Recall the education facilities you had and compare with what kids these days get.We are past..they are future. However most valuable life is of adolescent because we have already invested much money ,time in him more than we have on newborn child(zero productivity) or adult(who cant improve much now)

I wouldn't say a child's life is more valuable than an adults. But if something tragic happens to a child (like murder) it's almost sadder (like both are very sad dont get me wrong) because its a bigger loss of potential. Like that child was meant to live for probably 80+ years while if a 50 year old adult was murdered they would have only lived for another 30+ years.

Because children haven't had the chance to experience the joys of life as an adult has! A human life is worth the same as any other no matter what but in a situation of you asking a life of someone younger is worth more!

Because children can still live their life, and get a job or go to college, and get married. While an adult has usually already done all of those things.

people think this because kids look so vulnerable

adults can always do something to help their situation, but children look more helpless, etc

Who's going around pricing these things? Freaking weirdos.
