Why do the good die young?

My aunt was only 44 and died of cancer 2 years ago. She never had a bad thing to say about anyone or anything. She had such a positive outlook on everything that it took 4 years for the cancer to take her. She was going to be married and everything...

A few months ago, one of my dads coworkers died of cancer also. He was the best and happiest worker there, and worked hard as a policeman.

It's those deaths that are just not fair. I am Catholic and currently questioning why God takes the good, but leaves the horrible people alive and well. Some say the very faithful are taken, but Im not sure if that's true. My aunt was faithful in our religion but never extreme. I really don't want to stop believing, but it's so hard now. I really loved my aunt and I miss her so much. Detailed answers would be appreciated

my parents both died before they hit 62. "The good die young." is small consolation when you are a grieving teenager. The simple truth is that life is not fair at all. Good people die when they are young and old. Bad people likewise.

While I wanted for many years to think that God had a plan for their early deaths, I don't think that way about God any more, God is not a train conductor organizaing the arrivals and departures of every soul.

God is a force for good in the universe which we can tune into to make sense of the non-sense in Nature.

The good and the bad die in equal numbers, sad to say.

Sorry for your loss but let me give you a bit of advice, Yahoo answers is not generally a very good place to get serious answers to serious questions, at least not in the religious section.

I was a Catholic and I assure you there is nothing canonical about about the good or faithful being taken any sooner than others.

If your faith gives you comfort, take that comfort. If it does not, well religions don't have solutions to all events.

    Good Luck

Optimism tends to harbor carelessness; if people don't expect bad things to happen and maintain a positive outlook and attitude thorough their lives, they're likely to miss the initial signs of any illnesses that could befall them, for example.

They're also less likely to save money for emergencies, amongst other things.

It's not fair, of course - nothing ever is.

Christian Answer: God wanted them in heaven

Troll Atheist Answer: God doesn't exist, stop believing in fairy tales.

Bigot Christian Answer: GAWD WANTED THEM TO GUARD THE GATES TO HEAVEN INCASE ANY DEMONS!!!!!! WANTED TO INVADE HEAVEN

Answer you probably want: everybody dies inevitably, and not everybody will die old or young. Nobody has the same life, and there will never be the same of a certain person ever again. Many variables go into it. There is no definite answer, only the one you deem fit that will keep you at peace.

Well think of it this way... If your catholic you obviously believe in heaven right? Well heaven is real, and you can use that to comfort yourself. As for the good dying young, they get to go to a wayyy better place than earth. Earth is corrupt and you can't really trust earth, if that makes sense. So, if you think about it, it is a reward for the good to die young. It is hard to think that way, but its true. Good luck!

In my opinion, it is unfair to blame the bad in a world on a god. Since you are Catholic however, I will simply offer my sincerest apologies for your loss.. Fast healing.

We all have a time when death come upon us. The young died as well as the old.

the extreme irony of your question is this.....if hitler died young, before he committed to those atrocities, would he have been considered good at that time? how many were good beforethey got older and became bad?

Because Billy Joel sang about it.

We cannot judge God's work. Let Him do His thing, you'll see your Aunt again.
