How do stop my gums bleeding?

I visited my dentist who said I need to brush and floss more. I brush enough but didn't floss. The day I got back my gums in some areas started to bleed. However now I keep brushing them and flossing and everytime I do they bleed (I think because now the tissue needs to heel which I'm preventing). What is the best solution for this?

While your gums are sensitive brush and floss gently but don't stop brushing.

Rinse your mouth with black tea. It is a very good astringent and will help your gums heal as long as you continue with good oral hygiene (brushing and flossing). If you like to drink black tea, you can just swish the tea around your mouth as you drink it. It really works. I used it recently after oral surgery to help stop the bleeding and heal my gum.

Or try the baking soda and salt mouthwash recipe that is found on the site listed under resources. It is very effective at preventing further infection (a risk when gums are bleeding) and healing bleeding gums. You could use the salt and baking soda recipe with or without the hydrogen peroxide but DO NOT use hydrogen peroxide if you have amalgam fillings.

The natural essential oil remedy mentioned on that site works very well to help heal gums. Also the toothpaste recipes can help because they are not toxic.

Keep brushing and flossing. They will heal over time. Tartar build up causes the bleeding. Get rid of the tartar, and your gums will go back to normal, it may take a few weeks, but they will go back. Don't let future tartar build up by not brushing.

If your gums hurt while brushing, you should play Chuck Mangione's hit album "Feels So Good" while brushing those choppers. Chuck's tunes are always cool, crisp, and refreshing. They may relax you enough to make the pain go away.

you need to clean out your teeth/gums....not like regular cleaning but deep tissue cleaning, they give you some anestetic and clean your gums really deeply and apply some medicine...then your gums will not be puffy and red and bleeding but pale color and normal size and well again...then you need to brush after every meal floss before sleeping and use listerine after flossing....it will make your gums better and not hurt or bleed again....people with early onset of gingivitis tend to brush very hard, so make sure your tooth brush is not too soft or too hard and do not brush like you want to hurt your gums you just want to clean your teeth:))
