I have a USB/Serial Interface (USB Controller) which I want to connect to my laptop through my USB. I have 2 main issues. The first, the device isn t recognised as a controller and just an "other device". Secondly, I have the driver software (.sys) for the device but doesn t seem to want to install onto the device. I only get .inf options available. How can these be rectified? Answer which works will immediately get max points. Thanks.

I have recently bought a new laptop, and says the operating system is Windows 8.1. However, my girlfriend also has Windows 8.1, but she has the power button at the top of the Windows app screen (not desktop), and she can close apps via the normal 'x' button in top right corner. Does anyone know why this is? Thanks :-)

I'm about to insure a car I've just purchased. I am currently a student living away. However, in 2 months time more or less all my details will change, as I'm working at a company for my year in industry. If I pay the whole amount first, will I either owe money or get money back when it changes?

Also, are you aware of the best insurance companies for students. I know of black boxes but i don't want them charging me for going 2mph over the limit. If anyone's had experience of black boxes, some info would be great!

I'm doing a project where I look at the microstructure of metals and their hardness. I've idenitified that I have a ferritic equiaxed grain structure with an average hardness higher than the low carbon steel. Can anyone explain any reason for this? Many Thanks

I have been given a table with the viscosity at different concentrations, and asked to produce a specific viscosity/concentration - concentration graph, extrapolate to zero and calculate the molecular mass of the polymer using the Mark-Houwink equation. Does the specific viscosity/concentration equal to the intrinsic viscosity? Many Thanks

One the link that I've attached there's metal casing on the top left of the picture. It covers some sort of motherboard which is RF input/output. Is there a specific name for this motherboard in VCR's? Many Thanks

So we have the equation x = (1/alpha)*inversesin(Y-10/11) + beta. How do we find the optimal values for alpha and beta?

Have the function y = 11sin(alpha(x-beta) + 10. We've been asked to make x the subject, hence obtaining a linear function of the type z = mu + b. If we make the x the subject. Does this linearise the function?

Me and my girlfriend have a friend who is on anti-depressants. She has just changed onto a different drug as the previous one was making her drowsy and ill. She had an episode today, should she go to the doctor so it can be monitored?

I visited my dentist who said I need to brush and floss more. I brush enough but didn't floss. The day I got back my gums in some areas started to bleed. However now I keep brushing them and flossing and everytime I do they bleed (I think because now the tissue needs to heel which I'm preventing). What is the best solution for this?
