Why are libs insisting that online gun sales aren't subject to a background check?
It is perfectly legal to buy and sell firearms provided federal and state legal statutes are obeyed. Transfer of firearms ownership between individuals must be managed by a third party who is a Federal Firearms License (FFL) holder. Virtually anyone who is involved in the sale or distribution of firearms is an FFL holder, including gun shops.
From Gunbroker.com:
To take delivery of a firearm, buyers must either have an FFL or find an FFL in their local area to take delivery of the item for them. If you have an FFL, you already know what is required. For buyers who do not hold an FFL, this means the buyer must find an FFL in their area to take delivery for them. This typically means the buyer must contact a local gun shop and make arrangements for the transfer.
Buyers must contact the FFL holder before placing a bid on an item. By contacting the FFL holder before bidding, the buyer can verify that all state and federal laws will be observed. For most firearms, the buyer must be able to pass a background check.

I can answer that question with two words. Liberal Stupidity!
These idiot liberals know nothing about the law, they only regurgitate what the liberal gun control bigot handlers tell them to believe, no matter how big a lie it is.
This idiot the Christian Democrat doesn't know what he is talking about. I live in Texas and the only ones that sell firearms down here illegally is this muslim Hussein 0bama and his side kick Eric Holder. These two sell thousands of firearm to the Mexican drug cartel to murder citizens on both sides of the border, and then this muslim Hussein 0bama seals the records so they can't be prosecuted for their crimes.

This is because 95% of these people that want to expand laws, do not know the laws.
They do not know that you can only purchase a gun off the internet, if you are an in state resident. They dont know that 18 states require background checks from all sales..gun shows, individuals, internet sales..and through dealers.
They do not know that to purchase a firearm out of state, you MUST go through an FFL dealer.
They do not know that a Californian resident cannot buy a gun at a gun show in another state..even if that state does not require background checks.
They dont know the law.
EDIT.
Just read the nonsense in here. They simply spout words from their leader. Maybe they could try being original at some point.

They are referring to a set of circumstances where the firearm is advertised on the net and can be sold to a resident of the same state. The actual transfer would have to take place directly since shipping would require an FFL.
To bad Alan doesn't have a clue about which he speaks as I'm sure he means well.

Because they are not. "Subject to" would mean that they don't get the gun unless they pass the background check and that is simply not the case.
Currently around 40% of all gun sales are done without a background check. And in cases of where there are background sales, stray purchases are still legal, allowing felons to obtain guns legally.
This is a monsterous loophole that the Republicans are refusing to close. So we need to eliminate all Republicans (and Democrats) that voted for the filibuster in the Senate.

This does not apply to personal sells or sells through places like Gun Shows. This is the issue that people are talking about and the area that Expanded Background Checks will cover. Its a loophole right now.

I can only speak for my own state of Louisiana and my answer would be: BECAUSE THEY AREN'T.

Because Congress said so. No background checks for internet sales and no background check from your car trunk.

Try moving to Arkansas, Alabama, or Texas and then ask this question with some measure of intelligence.
