Which is harder: Industrial Engineering or Economics?
I am a high school student.
Which one is the more difficult major in terms of work load, overall concepts, prerequisites, etc. ?
I am considering majoring in either one... But I am worried that I might not be smart enough for Industrial Engineering. I suck at chemistry and I'm a little above average at math compared to my IB classmates...
Basically, here's how my math goes for high school:
freshman year - honors geometry
sophomore year - regular algebra II
junior year - pre calculus
senior year - IB Math SL [calculus and statistics]
Is this good enough for a prospective Industrial Engineering student? Or should I just major in Economics? Please help!
Thanks.

Engineering. Along with all of the general education classes, Industrial Engineering requires:
Engineering Economics
C++ Programming
Technical Writing
Senior Design Project
Linear Programming
IT in Engineering where you learn about datamining and SQL.
Operations Research
Thermodynamics
Statics
Dynamics
Strength of Materials
Material Science
Solidification
Metal Casting
Rapid Prototyping
Manufacturing Systems
Decision Modeling and Support
Specifications, Metrology and Solidworks
Engineering Design(Intro to engineering and AutoCAD)
Facilty Layout and Material Handling
Calc 1 & 2
Linear Algebra and Matrices(Calc 3)
Differential Equations(Calc 4)
Physics: Mechanics
Physics: Electricity and Magnetism
Electrical Circuits and/or Fluid dynamics for engineeirng electives
Concurrent Engineering
Work Design
Human Factors and Ergonomics
Chemistry 1 with lab
Chemistry 2 with lab
Probabilities and Statistics 1
Probabilities and Statistics 2
And other engineering electives
Some schools also have Engineering Law and Project Management classes for IE's.
In highschool, Pre-calc is great. Algebra II is a requirement as is Chemistry and Physics.

All college majors are puzzling to a pair volume or yet another. Even those that throughout the time of the previous each little thing look would seem to be easy. Economics is between the harder ones although that's a notch under engineering. unquestionably, as an engineer, in case you need to ask this question, you're no longer adequate into engineering to do properly at it. you have to be "into" it to the factor you are able to't think of being something. otherwise, it is going to likely be so puzzling, your probabilities of graduating are incredibly low. Engineering of any style is the #a million maximum puzzling undergrad najor.

Engineering in college you have to go through things like cal2-3, differential equations, physics, statics, thermodynamics, advanced solid state physics the list goes on.

Engineering is a lot harder.
Source(s): I am an electronics engineer. My daughter got her BA in economics. An MSc in Technology Management. She is now getting a PhD in civil engineering. She is scary smart. She said the economics has two killer math courses but otherwise she found it very easy.
