Animal Shelter gave out my personal contact information to a stranger?

I applied to adopt a specific type of animal from a rescue, on the app I provided my name, address, phone, email. Months later, a animal like this turned up missing, the owner looking for the lost animal contacted that rescue, and they gave all my contact info to this stranger looking for a lost pet. (do not ask me why)

Naturally I did not have it. But I am freaked out they gave all my info to them. No police, nothing like that. I want to know if there is anything I can do to the rescue to make them remove my info and maybe even sue them in small claims because of this breach of trust. I hate to do that but what if they give it out to a wacko? I assumed my info was private.

Your name, address, telephone and email are all publicly available with a little digging, so none of the information they provided was personal in nature. To sue, you must have a legitimate cause of action, and because the information was not truly private, this would constitute a frivolous suit on your part.

Sorry, yet in my opinion, no you will desire to no longer get the canines back! what is going to ward off you from appearing without "too lots concept" next week, next month or the different time? Animals are no longer a spur of the 2nd determination - to get them or to maintain them! You made a dedication to the canines once you observed it, and you probably did no longer keep that dedication. learn your lesson from this and circulate on. you apart from would would desire to be responsive to which you will have properly condemned the canines and he would be killed if he's no longer already, considering the fact that shelters in lots of situations kill proprietor surrenders a similar day or in day after in the present day or 2, exceptionally in the event that they are finished! And that is uncertain the safeguard might assist you to get him back besides. they are not there to soak up your canines once you get annoyed and then once you're no longer to any extent further offended, circulate %. him back up! You needless to say weren't responsible for the canines once you had him the 1st time - did no longer practice him or crate him to no longer in basic terms keep him from being destructive yet to maintain him risk-free - you do no longer deserve him back the 2nd time!

personal information does not always mean private.

your name, address, phone number and probably your email as well are public records and could be found easily.

private information includes your SSN, bank account number, etc

why would you sue them? you have no actual damages...

    This is all public information.

What in the world do you want to sue them for? What is "breach of trust" anyway?

    Stop whining and grow up.

Unless someone who works at the shelter is your MD or shrink--no HIPPA violation. Now, if the shelter has a hippo, there could be a HIPPO violation. Glad to help.

What do you want to happen to them? do you want them rubbed over with prime steak and left in a cage of tigers.

Okay, when you gave your information to the animal center, you were giving it to a "stranger". I mean they were not your relatives or friends. If you want them to take you off their list, just ring and ask them to do so
