Orchids that you buy in the supermarket...what can be done after the flower has died?

Hi! I am looking for advice on what to do with orchid plants once the flower has died. How did you make yours flower again? Do they flower every year? Any advice on light? Any advice on watering? Thanks 10 points

soak about once a week, keep in a spot which gets light but not much direct sun. They flower in response to lower temperatures at the end of winter, so make sure you don't keep them too warm, though they obviously wouldn't survive freezing, so leaving them outside may not be an option.

The most common orchid sold is Phalaenopsis, and you can easily find care instruction for them on the internet

  • If the stem is not brown and dry do not cut it. Many times you will get new flowers off that same stem. If it turns brown then cut it at the bottom. They do bloom at least once a year but the conditions have to be right. Keep it in a bright sunny window without the sun hitting the Orchid. I keep mine outside all summer under my covered porch. I do not bring them in until the temps drop or if it gets too hot. They must be allowed to be in temps that drop to 58 degrees. This is what spikes the blooms. They should not be in temps higher than 85 degrees. Water one time per week. Make sure all water is drained out. Never let it sit in water. If you are feeling daring with your orchid now is the perfect time to repot it.

The blue orchids in many circumstances are white orchids injected with dye so as that they are tinted from interior of. destiny blooms stands out as the unique shade. Water nicely, enable drain, & replace in filtered gentle window. Can snip the stem on the subsequent "nub" on stem (until stem is thoroughly dry/lifeless). in case you are able to save the foliage alive there is great desire for greater vegetation. If it would not do nicely in a single region, attempt yet another. flowers commonly like one region greater perfect than yet another. there is orchid nutrition available which would be used besides. solid success!

In my experince they flower annually, so if you don't mind living with a twig for several months of the year then just treat it the same, although less watering when flowerless. And perhaps religate it from pride of place!
