It is usually best to let the wood "age" a while before painting it; I'd wait several months. This will allow the damp residual treating chemicals to evaporate. Otherwise, you may find that your paint bubbles or blisters as it tries to get out later.

Go check Wolman's website since they own patents for pressure treating wood plus make products to protect them. They make a clear water repellant which can be applied to PT wood that's fresh from the lumber yard. You can use that now then paint over it next year after the moisture from the treatment has escaped. They should have tips for painting PT wood. One coat of primer and two top coats of a quality acrylic paint will last a very long time.

Bill is about as close to a good answer on here. You must let the wood dry before applying any coating. Thompsons is useless, do not use. Once dried apply any stain that you want or do what Bill said about 1 coat primer and two coats good paint. However you really do not have to waterproof it if it is pressure treated.
I prefer solid stains. There are only two really good stains, one of them is Cabot and I can not remember the other one, look in Consumers Reports, they had a great report on stains.

You can paint one side, that leaves the other side to weather and dry out.
Also you can put Thompson wood sealer on it to preserve it. You can buy it with a colored stain added to it too.
Put a water base paint on it, otherwise the paint will lift off the wood. You can get a gloss water base paint to repel water too.

This is a weird question.. WAIT UNTIL ITS DRY! Same with the spray paint, dont ask "how long should i wait for it to dry" JUST LET IT DRY!
