VERY concerned for my leopard gecko?

All winter, my leopard gecko hadn't been shedding well. I was a little worried, but he didn't seem in much discomfort, so I didn't worry about it too much. Only recently, when I took him out of his cage, I discovered two big injuries on his heels. I think he'd been walking on them because his feet hadn't been shedding well and there was a lot of layers of dead skin, making him unable to walk properly. It seems to be causing him a lot of pain and I don't know what to do... I'd like to get him to a vet, but my parents don't care about him enough to pay for it.

I feel absolutely terrible. Call me a bad person, an animal abuser, whatever. I deserve it all. I should've paid more attention and I didn't. I just really need help. Any advice at all will be taken in to consideration.

First, save up your money so that you can pay for the vet trip! (probably a spare $200 should do it, depending on how serious it is!)

Second, take a q-tip and wet it then try to rub off the layers of shed. Maybe use tweezers to help peel it off. You can also give him a soak (wet paper towels with warm water, put him and the paper towels in a container, make sure that he can breathe, and wet his toes to help the shed loosen) to help with the shedding.

He may hate the wetness and q-tips, but you have to get the shed off before he loses his toes completely. So just gently rub the wet q-tip on his feet/toes until the shed loosens a bit. He might help you, by biting at his feet trying to get it off once it's loose. Repeat every day until all the shed is gone.

    I hope he gets better!

    Aww, I'm sorry :(

I wish I knew about geckos so I could help you. I'd plead with your parents to take him to the vet, and tell them you'll work for them and pay them back for the vet bills. This is your pet, he deserves to be taken care of :(
