My favourite one would be Bathory. This is mainly because they were one of the first black metal bands and I really enjoy the rawness of their first three albums. Their fourth album "Blood Fire Death" contained a lot of epic viking elements along with black metal, which makes it sound like a masterpiece. Their later albums are more viking metal oriented, but they still sound amazing.

Simply because I saw them play last night. You'd have thought they were playing a hometown show or something with the amount of passion they brought on stage. Absolutely awesome set. I wasn't a huge fan, but they won me over.

Tie between Agalloch and Enslaved. Both are absolutely stellar bands with incredible atmosphere.

Either Emperor or Marduk. Emperor always had that cool progressive element to them and Marduk is badass.
