How fast should A middle School football player of my size run?

Hello I am in sixth grade I played for a rec football league as a center. I want to play for my school, when I played center I was 5'7" 165 pounds I wasn't fast at all. Over the off-season I have been running. I am currently 5'11" 142 pounds and a whole lot of people are saying tight end, fullback, defensive end, linebacker, or even wide receiver! Now I know I have never been a burner by any means so I am not running a 4.2 or 4.3 40. I clocked around a 7 second 40 last season now I am a late to mid 5 second 40 is that a good speed for me?

That's isn't too bad for a sixth grader... Keep the hard work up and listen to your coaches and they will help you immensely.. Good luck....

    Faster.

That's always the goal. I box, so how hard should I punch? Harder. How fast should I move? Faster.

If you try to get yourself to do a 40 dash in 6 seconds you might be proud and call it a day but imagine being a middle school football player running NFL Draft Combine times. That would be great!

What I've noticed is that when I set a goal for myself I feel good for a while, but when when I don't I feel even better when someone asks.

For example, the first day I benched 225lbs I was ecstatic, compared to the left tackle of my high school team that wasn't anything. So I stop setting goals and decided, "how much am I lifting today?" More.

So now, due to my small frame when people ask how much do you bench and I said 310 the expression on their faces is priceless, yet when someone benches more than me I don't feel, "defeated" per se I simply feel like at this rate I will eventually build up to that.

Based on your height and weight, as well as your 40-yard dash time, I believe that you will make a very good fit at defensive end. Your height gives you the potential to become an elite middle school defensive end.

My best advice for you is to work hard and perform very well in practice every day. In addition, what you need to do this (and every) offseason is eat healthy, exercise by doing weight lifting, and either jogging or going for a long run every day. If you do these things, you will get faster, stronger, and into better shape, which will greatly improve your chances of becoming a successful, top notch football player.
