Is it safe to overpower a car amplifier?

OK I have a 1000peak amp with 300rms @1 channel or breach able. If I buy a alpine type R with peak 1800watts and rms watts of 600 and dual voice coil 4 ohms. will that damage my amp or subwoofer since the subwoofer is 600watt rms and the amp is 300watt rms

It will not damage anything. It just means that since your amp can only produce 300 watts rms your sub will be running at 300 watts rms. Your speaker can only run as much as the amp will power it.
