If it was open for 10 months, it probably had degraded. The leavening doesn't stay good for long periods. You could probably cook it, but it probably would be stale and not rise well. Look up a simple recipe online and mix it up. Doesn't take long.

If you have leftovers, wrap and refrigerate. Heat in microwave the next day.

It is likely good for a year or better so long as it did not become infested will weevils . I never use mix because other than the basic ingredients it really does not give you anything but additives for preserving and anti caking etc. I suggest looking at the list of ingredients and see what I mean.

It would be fine if it was stored in a sealed container. If not, just in an open box, I could not eat it due to wondering what other critters were in the mood for pancakes too.

(For something so easy to make why use a MIX anyway???...Oh! you like to waste money!?)

The message below became an e mail it really is being surpassed alongside: important FYI. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE study THIS. notably ALL YOU PANCAKE enthusiasts. thanks. expensive ABBY: i latterly made a batch of pancakes for my healthful 14-3 hundred and sixty 5 days-previous son, using a mixture that became in our pantry. He stated that they tasted "humorous," yet ate them besides. about 10 minutes later, he began having undertaking respiration and his lips began turning pink. I gave him his hypersensitive reaction pill, had him sit on the settee and advised him to relax. He became wheezing at the same time as respiration in and exhaling. My husband, a volunteer firefighter and EMT, heated up some water, and we had my son lean over the water so the steam might want to scrub his chest and sinuses. quickly, his respiration became more effective common and his lips back to a more effective popular colour. We checked the date on the field of pancake mix and, to my dismay, got here across it became very old. As a reference librarian at an academic organization, I actual be able to seek through many study databases. I did merely that, and positioned an editorial the subsequent day that stated a 19-3 hundred and sixty 5 days-previous male lack of life after ingesting pancakes made with old mix. apparently, the mold that sorts in previous pancake mix would properly be poisonous! when we advised our friends about my son's close call, we were shocked on the style of folk who stated that they ought to verify their own pancake mix considering the fact that they don't use it always, or that they had offered it a at the same time as in the past. With such an excellent number of folk procuring at warehouse-style shops and procuring tremendous sizes of pancake mix, i desire your readers will take the time to study the expiration date on their packing boxes. also, beware of old cake, brownie and cookie mixes. bypass IT ON!!!! Be Blessed:-)

I wouldn't use it - the potential for harm, even small, is too great:
