    (2a-1)(2a+3)

    (2a -1)(2a + 3)

    2a - 1 = 0, so a = 1/2

    2a + 3 = 0, so a = -3/2

    solution set is a = 1/2 and a = -3/2

    (2a - 1)(2a + 3)

    note that 4a^2 + 4a - 3 = 4a^2 + 6a - 2a - 3

    now factor by grouping

    2a(2a + 3) - 1(2a + 3)

    (2a + 3)(2a - 1)
