Ireggular Periods? Is there something wrong with me?

I started my periods when I was 12 and they never regulrised. When I asked my doctor about it when I was about 16 they said that it was probably just because I was young, even though I'd been having them for 4 years. I went on the pill when I was 17 for 2 years, during which time my periods were regular because I was controlling them with the pill. Now I am 20 and on no birth control, I have been off the pill for almost 5 months, and I have had 2 periods in this time. I currently haven't had a period for 10 weeks. There is no way that I am pregnant. Before I went on the pill my doctor tested me for PCOS and found that I didn't have it.

What shall I do? I don't really mind having irregular periods, it doesn't matter that much to me, but could I have an underlying problem which could affect my health or fertility for later in life? Is it possible for me to just have irregular periods but be completely healthy at the same time? I'm worried.

NO THERE IS NOT NOTHING WRONG WITH YOU SORRY FOR THE CAPS.

my wife has ALWAYS had ireggular periods. It could be from a lot of things like stress, not eating right, ect... just because it is called a peroid does not mean it always come on at that time.

BTW don't worry about fetility she has 2 months to go before we have our first baby girl!!! (I am very excited)

inother words when you go the the gyno. they can tell you how hard it would be for you to have a baby. it would be harder if your was over weight than to have irriguar perioids. i hope this helps.

    so don't worry your fine.

did your doctor check your hormone levels & did everything come back normal? (I guess they check that when they test for PCOS)

are you a normal weight for your frame size & height?

are you in what is considered a normal body fat range for women? (this range runs as low as 18% to as high as 31%. the optimal range for health & conception is 20% to 25%) If you are severely underweight (under 18%) or obese (over 31%) then you body fat percentage can cause you to have irregular periods or no periods at all. the more underweight you are the more likely you'll have fewer periods spaced further apart to no periods. the more overweight you are, the more likely you'll have irregular periods w/ spotting between periods. (more fat means more estrogen which means more bleeding)

and then there are just some women who have irregular periods & need to remain on BC to regulate them.

If you are otherwise healthy then irregular periods are nothing to worry about.

as to your fertility, because you are irregular, it's harder to ::plan:: pregnancy because so much of pregnancy planning involves knowing your cycle & when you don't know when your next period is, it's difficult to know when you're ovulating. but women w/ irregular periods have no problems conceiving. in your case, when you're ready, you may just have to stop the BC & plan to be surprised.

most important reason of irregular periods are hormonal changes.consult a gynecologist.
