How do I keep animals from eating my flowers?
A persistent problem for me is that the newly sprouting plants (tulips, daffodils and crocus) are being eaten by what I am assuming is rabbits that grew up in our back yard. Can anyone suggest some remedy to prevent them from eating the young plants and flowers? I should add that we feed the birds and wild animals in our yard regularly and enjoy them so something that keeps them away from the flowers but doesn’t cause any permanent damage would be good – any suggestions?
Huh! Interesting! Thank you Freedom – I will try that!

Shake epsom salts on your plants. It will not hurt the plant and the critters and bugs hate the taste of it. It has to be used pretty regularly, but it is not pricy and you can buy large bags of it at most pharmacies. I have used it on my plants to keep the ground hogs away.
The rain washes it away, so you have to reapply after every rain fall.

There are several products you can buy to keep animals from eating on your plants. The key is you must rotate these products as your animals do not get used to the same taste and decide to eat it after all. Your local garden center will show you the varieties, such as deer off, etc, that you can use and remember every time you use a bottle rotate to a new brand the next time.
