Real advice and facts needed! I'm working with a child who has oral herpes!?

Ok so I work at a early head start day care center we just got a new child in who has oral herpes according to the mother he was premature and got the herpes from her as he came out, this child breaks out on the hands and won't be able to attend school when he breaks out but he has crusted over dry looking pimples on his hands my real concern is he puts everything in his mouth and hands it to other children and then the next child puts it in his mouth we care for 8 babies from ages 3 months-2years old for two adults so we can't can't always remove every toy he puts in his mouth and if we did we would have no toys! I'm a little confused cause my boss gave us an article saying its transmitted by saliva but I guess she didn't read it and told us that only transmited by saliva when he gets the rash!

Tank u in advanced for any help!!!

Oral herpes is unlikely to be passed by sharing things, the virus doesn't last for more then a few seconds when it's in open air or on objects, it also doesn't survive in fluids. If the child kisses another kid or touches them around the mouth while he has blisters on his hands then he could pass it to other children.

Oral herpes is the virus that causes cold sores. Oral herpes isn't transmitted by just saliva, it's passed through kissing on the mouth while there is a visible cold sore. It's more likely to be passed while there is a visible break out, the chances of passing it when there are no sores or blisters is very low.

It's usually passed when a child is innocently kissed by some one that has cold sores, it's not often passed at birth unless the mother has genital herpes and had a break out when she went into labor.

hahah Seriously??? Oral herpes is carried by 90 percent of our population. Herpes simplex is super contagious and can be caught by simply sharing a drink. You are probably carrying it right now. I probably have it. There is nothing you can do. It's like chicken pox. Don't worry about it.

Lindsey has no idea what she is talking about. Go read on oral herpes (HSV1) statistics and how it can easily be transmitted.

I am absolutely terrified and I feel so alone. I just found out last week that I tested positive for hsv1 and 2. I have been with the same man for the past 10 years and within the last year found out that he has cheated on me with numerous women. I am so scared that I can give it to my children by kissing them and them eating with me...I feel like my whole life has changed. And even though the nurses, my doctor, and websites say that a lot of people have it I still feel like I am by myself. My self esteem has dropped and I feel like I have been used up. But now, My life is very happy.
