My tongue piercing is infected. How should I help it?
I got my tongue pierced friday and one of them (I got a double tongue piercing [two piercings, one in front of the other]) and the one in front is infected. The second piercing was just a re-pierce b/c I had it pierced 6 months ago but took it out but the first one is infected and am not sure what to do. When I got my tongue pierced for the first time about a year ago it never got infected but this time it did (probably b/c I'm a smoker now which I wasn't a year ago) but I keep it to only about 6 a day (the piercer said no more than 6 cigs/day) and I rinse with mouth wash for at least 1 min after every cig and rinse after every meal. Have been taking ibuprofen to help with the swelling but am not sure what to do. Should I take it out for a few hours and rinse my mouth? I just don't want it to close back up so any advice from past experiences would be much appreciated. Thank you.

If you only started smoking withing the past year, there is no reason you couldn't quit smoking for two to three weeks while your tongue piercings healed. Smoking is always a bitxh with fresh piercings, impedes the healing process, and you can't really avoid tar sticking. Sorry but this is on you. I'd quit smoking or take the piercing out if I were you.
