A standard Driving License would be a Category B License allowing you to drive a vehicle up to 3,500kg and towing a trailer no more than 750kg or you need to get a Category B+E to tow a trailer where the combined trailer and vehicle weigh no more than 3,500kg in total.
Your car would weigh at the very least 1,500kg and the box at least 1,000kg add your pony at around 500kg and your are already looking at 3,000kg at a minimum.
Personally I would go for the safer option and upgrade your license to at least a C1+E, This allows you to drive larger vehicles up to 7,500kg and tow a larger trailer with the combined weight of vehicle and trailer not exceeding 12,000kg. However apparently this is not necessary and you only need a B+E Licence to tow a horse trailer.
Upgrading to a B+E licence will cost £115

As mentioned before you would need to upgrade your driving licence to a category B in order to drive a horse box. However, this is slightly different to just driving a car and as you are a relatively new driver I would strongly recommend that you get some lessons. The following website also gives some insight into the different licences that you'll need for towing a horsebox.

I constantly make certain I certainly have a mechanic verify mine over a minimum of as quickly as a 365 days, two times a 365 days if i exploit it plenty. Brakes, lube, tires and if conceivable get decrease than it to ascertain for rusting out. Touching up any rust spots, cleansing it.... the fee of working the trailer relies upon on the place you're and how in many circumstances you haul. My previous 2 horse fee me a grand finished of $10 for registration. The criminal duty coverage is on our vans and not the trailer. And our rigs are so previous it extremely is not worth insuring the fee. My vans are 20 yrs previous and my trailer over 25. I see no reason to have a horse van extremely of a trailer while you at the instant are not a expert.

It would help to know what country you are in. If you are in the UK, go to the DVLA website and look up full driving license restrictions. I would strongly recommend you get some lessons driving it before you take your horses in it.

There have been lots of problems with small horse boxes getting stopped and weighed and found to be overweight.
You need to be very careful.
