Orthodox Christians: Women and the Holy Mysteries?
I know that women cannot partake of the Eucharist when on their periods. Is this restriction only applied to the Eucharist, or all of the Holy Mysteries? And before you say "Ask your priest," I tried that. He didn't know.
(This question is for EOC, not Oriental.)
No, not the Roman Catholic Church. The Orthodox Church.

I love answers from KJVonlies. Eucharist isn't in the Bible.....ha ha. They are used to reading the inspired word of God in 16th century English.
In the Eastern Orthodox Churches it is only wrong for a woman to receive communion (Eucharist) while menstruating. This is due to the nature of communion. It does not apply to other Holy Mysteries. You can establish this by reviewing each sacrament separately. In the Ethiopian Orthodox Church you cannot enter the sanctuary while menstruating and not for 40 days after giving birth. It is believed that women in modern countries who follow this rule are the minority.

I believe the reason your priest didn't know is because the word eucharist and holy mysteries are not in the bible. Nor does it say anything about a woman on her period in the New Testament. A Christian is someone who follows the teachings of Jesus who is God made into man on earth. He came to start the churches by teaching the disciples first in the New testament, so they could start the churches. We are to test everything with scripture. If it is true we will find it in the bible. Those are not in there. Period.
