should i pay my parents rent?

I'm 18, still in full time education i only work one day a week at a tea rooms, that earns me £30/£35.

The initially asked for £30 a week, but i pointed out how harsh it was to take basically everything i earn.

Now it's only £10 a week but thing is I pay for pretty much EVERYTHING i need. that includes things like toothbrush/paste, socks, knickers, toiletries, uniform for school/work, anything i need. all the essentials other than food and the house bills. I pay for my prom ticket and outfit my transport anywhere, any trip i go on. all off of the money i earn from one day a week and now they are taking a third of that im finding it really hard,

should i suck it up and carry on paying them or say something?

What's wrong with saying something anyway? all you're doing is talking to them. That's step one. Step two is negotiating a better deal. Paying rent for a roof over your head is a part of life and most parents that charge it to their kids do it not because they need the money, but to teach them responsibility which at this point you are getting.

You should talk to them and get them lower your rent and explain to them what's going on. If they're not understanding then you can always go out on your own. Can't afford it? well then yes, then you'll just have to suck it up because they are taking care of you on everything else to a point where nobody else will.

Either that or get your own place and see how much harder it can really be. I'm not meaning to be rude or hurtful but as you get older you have to shoulder more responsibility and that my friend means it's going to cost money. Maybe see if you can get some evening work of some sort and get a bit more money.

I myself work 2 jobs so I am aware of how difficult it can be to get through. I work 2 jobs to have a good life not to make ends meet so am an example of just putting a bit more in to get a bit more out.

At least when you have completed your education it hopefully leads to the job you want and success so you can just have these struggles as a memory and reminder that you worked hard to get what you wanted.

I see you are a legal adult at the age of 18, you are receiving a good deal why dont you cost out what it would cost you to live by yourself and pay for everything it is no longer your parents responsibility to subsidies your living expenses when i was in full time study i had three part time jobs just to pay all the bills and i was living by myself if i was you i would p[ay the 30 and shut up you seem intelligent enough what do you think it costs to house and feed you ???

I would say that asking you for £30 a week from your £30-£35 salary is really really harsh of your parents. So now you pay £10 a week. However I dont think I would be asking my 18 year old to pay rent when she/he only earns £35. I think your parents are mean to be honest. Talk to them

genuinely i could fee my toddler hire. while my son replaced into an entire time scholar in college and dealing complete time, I charged him hire of $3 hundred according to month -- no longer because of the fact I desperately needed the money, yet because of the fact i wanted him to get a real education as properly to his college classes. while he married his early existence sweetheart no longer some years later, they positioned a great downpayment on their first homestead -- no longer present funds from mom and father -- funds that they had earned and stored. How mushy your mom and father are has no bearing on the question. you're an person, and that they already raised you. you presently are to blame to pay your guy or woman way in the international. What could be unfair could be so which you would be able to head into their homestead, disrupt their serenity, run up their application costs and grocery expenses, positioned on out their laundry equipment, and assume a loose holiday. in case you have been recommendations broken that would desire to be a separate situation, yet you're no longer. in case you think of that's unfair, purely make different residing arrangements. hassle-free.

You are 18 and an adult so you have to pay your way. How much do you think it costs to keep you at home? What you give your parents is an insult not rent. they are not obliged to keep you anymore so if you don't earn enough to pay for rent, household bills and sundries get another job! Time to stop freeloading.

    Suck it up.

Make a list of everything you've paid for--including special events--and put together a mock budget. Discuss it with them.

It's respectful to pay for their rent but if you want to stop it .... You can

You can pay less, more or nothing at all

    I personally would pay 10 a month

But if that bothers you, go a little lower.

Your parents are jerks!!! You shouldn't have to pay them rent when you are working your butt off and covering your expenses. They have the responsibility to provide for you as long as your in school and under 25 in my eyes
