Has Feminism become more about power rather than equal rights?

I just want to leave it open for discussion, over the recent years, protests and alike are signifying that females aren't given equal opportunities. That's not my issue here, it's the problem to do with fighting against men, proving a stronger gender in today's society.

I've read articles and god forbid; the most stupid Facebook statuses which classify men a large majority of rapists. The fact is, most man couldn't live with the fact that they raped a woman in my opinion. I could be wrong, the battle remains, why such bigger over something that doesn't have anything to do with societal status?

Its just something that has caught my attention and I would love to see people's responses on the matter (:

Update:

I love the discussion :)

Nicole Taylor - I don't understand feminism, I can admit to that. But I don't understand what you mean that hatred against women by men is shown in media today? It's not really an academic source of information xD But anyway, you have a point about the voting :)

Pieris - You're right, majority of men are rapists, but take into consideration that if a man was raped, he is less likely to report it. And you're right, some men can live with it. But I couldn't. Anyway, continue :)

Feminism is about destroying the patriarchy. The patriarchy also does a disservice to men: it teaches that men are essentially monsters who can't control themselves. Misogyny is ingrained within the entire society and reflected consistently in the media. Feminism is completely 100% necessary and without it, women would not be able to vote and would have no control over their reproductive systems. I think you're not completely understanding feminism.

Yes. It has gone too the point where they would complain that wearing fake imitation jewelry is somehow "sexist" and "offensive". Plus they keep complaining and complaining even though they got their rights as a citizen already. From women not being able to vote to women politicians. What else do you want anyways?

I think an unsung but very real tension in modern Western life hinges on Domination and submission, especially between men and women. A vast majority of women seek to be carefully and lovingly Dominated by a male; that is her genetic programming. That search is nowdays mostly frustrated due to men abdicating their Dom role. So, women are driven to fill the power vacuum. I hope YA does not cen sor this message like it does many of my others. The power inversion now around just has to result in lots of misery because it is genuinelly going against nature's eons of evolutionary programming. We can not win by fighting that eons of evolution.

I am not a card carrying feminist. On the other hand, you have access to the NOW website, so can see what the agenda is. It's all very complicated, and I'm not that interested. But please feel free to look. And there are no sections for man haters, btw.

As for rape - most rapists are men. Why deny it? Whether or not the victim is male or female, most rapists are men.

Your opinion doesn't seem to have much validity. Most rapists seem quite capable of living with it. Just yesterday a British celebrity admitted rape of a young girl many years ago. He is now and in 80's and has managed to live a very nice life, with little evidence of guilt.

feminism has become a gender war.

Feminists insist western society is hostile towards women, and victimises them. The hostility and victimisation, they say, is coming from men.

Men rape, men commit domestic violence - men discriminate against women in the workforce - men are the problem. That's the feminist position.

Collectively, men are starting to feel this is a somewhat unfair and inaccurate portrayal of men.

    * "men commit rape, men feel no guilt - shame them"

Ok -well black people commit most murders in the US and deal most drugs - statistical fact - what would you think of a group of people that made statements like "well, blacks are the problem - they commit all the crimes, many don't even feel guilt - they should be ashamed of themselves "

I know what I would call a group like that - a bunch a spiteful ignorant bigots.
