Why do people have the need to idolize a "celebrity"/person in general?
I have always wondered why certain people are considered more important than others (hence the word VIP). When we are all of equal importance. I see this usually with these so called celebrities, and especially with rockstars or popstars. Why are for example the beatles adored? or the Kurt cobain mania, or elvis prestley, or michael jackson, I mean alright they made great music, they were talented but I don't think they are/were more important than anybody else on this planet. But still they are seeing as "gods".
Is it because of people's need to believe in a "higher power"? and if they don't believe in a God they have build a person up to that status?
I am really glad today's "celebrities" (thanks to the internet in part) are becoming less of a myth and more humans.

I think it's cuz Celebrities are put into the public eye and put on a high pedestal and looked at as perfect when in Reality they aren't. Celebrities you see everywhere, they are on your TV, in Magazines, movies, music. Some people get really invested in a certain celebrity and look up to them as to what they have achieved.
I don't really idolize them, I may think some are an inspiration in certain situations(Since I been though some tough stuff, what some of them have) But i don't idolize them like god or anything.
