  • Why do people have the need to idolize a "celebrity"/person in general?

I have always wondered why certain people are considered more important than others (hence the word VIP). When we are all of equal importance. I see this usually with these so called celebrities, and especially with rockstars or popstars. Why are for example the beatles adored? or the Kurt cobain mania, or elvis prestley, or michael jackson, I mean alright they made great music, they were talented but I don't think they are/were more important than anybody else on this planet. But still they are seeing as "gods".

Is it because of people's need to believe in a "higher power"? and if they don't believe in a God they have build a person up to that status?

I am really glad today's "celebrities" (thanks to the internet in part) are becoming less of a myth and more humans.

  • Is it the usual a&r scam?

I'm an unsigned singer/musician, I got an email from a guy, stating that he was from MCA Records. At first he didn't seem to have written it to me personally. He talked about MCA Records' auditions for unsigned artists in London in July 2012. I sent him my myspace link and he replied with an email saying, that after he heard the songs, he would like to sign me to his label. I'm really skeptical about these things usually, so I looked up on the internet. There's nothing about his name, and the label MCA Records doesn't exist anymore, except for the MCA Nashville, but this wasn't that. I asked the guy if he could send me a website of his label, and he said "it's signed to Geffen/interscope" so he sent me the interscope website, which does not have a section about MCA Records.

Anyway, he sent me the contract to sign, online (kinda weird that a major label would do it online). It sounds like the usual scam, but the weird part is, he didn't ask for any money, only offered. I won't go thru with this, I'll probably won't even answer him back, but where is the scam here? He is not asking advance money, how come? If I'd sign the contract where would be the scam? Anyway like I said I'll ignore him and move on with my life.

  • What is Snoop Dogg's best album beside Doggystyle?

I was never really into Snoop's stuff, but i was curious to know if there are any other good albums by him beside doggystyle (which i enjoyed).

I heard the blue carpet, too but i didn't like it at all.

Are there any other snopp dogg albums worth listening to?

  • What do y'all think of LL Cool J?

I was listening to few of his albums, more specifically "Mama said knock you out" and "Mr. Smith", and beside the topics he raps about which at times can be boring, i do believe he was really great. Alot of energy in the rappin (ex. i shot ya), good flow, alright nothing complicated, but i prefer him to any rapper on tv right now.

I never really saw him mentioned in the section, and I do believe he had a certain influence on hip hop, overall.

Don't really think he is underrated (he's career is mostly over, imo), but maybe he should get more credit than he gets?

  • Tv show's name from the early-mid 90s?

there was a TV show during the early mid 90s, where a guy always received the newspaper from the next day because of his cat, and saved the people before they were killed or injured... I just don't remember it's title, could you help me?

  • what are some rap songs with these kind of beats?

so I'm looking for beats similar to these:

    flamboyant - Big L

    rather unique - AZ

the good die young - 50cent (i dislike the rapper, but i like the beat)

    something 2 ride 2 - royce da 5'9''

okay maybe for some people these beats have nothing in common, but i just love the atmosphere they create.

If you cannot feel the atmosphere that I feel they have in common, then just suggest me some rap songs, that talk about, or either give that "city life" atmosphere, if you get what im talkin' about. Thanx anyway.

  • Do record labels consider music college's artists more than just "self made" artists?

I'm a singer/songwriter/musician, and right now I'm fresh out of high school and I don't know if I should go to a music college (or music school), or instead try to make a name for myself by sending demos to record labels and radios....

Do I get better chances if I actually get a music education first and then, out of that make a name for myself, is it easier? Do people in the business consider "educated" artists more than just self made artist (yeah i realize I already wrote this in the tile...)

This question arose because I realized that many singers (Im talking about today's mainstream "artists") never went to any music school or college.

  • What decides what we like? Is there a certain spot in the brain or something like that?

For example why do I like a color that someone else hates? or an activity, anything. Is this transmitted thru genes (sometimes happens that parents and children have similar taste), is there an impulse, is it because the first time we saw that thing, or did a thing we felt pleasure?

  • Who is behind soulja boy?

after months and months that I heard about this guy, I decided to listen to his entire song "crank that", and my first question was, who the hell would sign a so talentless person?

then my second thought was: there must be somebody behind him that made him famous for a reason, why most unsigned artist that you hear on youtube, myspace... never had a chance to be listened or at least be noticed, why did they choose the most meaningless, stupidest, trash music they could ever find? how the hell did he sell a million copy? who bought his album? that's not music that's an annoying screaming. I can't believe people are that stupid to not just listen to his songs but even buy his CD!!!!
