If all the money that is wasted in churches went to charities instead, what would the world look like?

To answer your question, yes, smaller congregations could maybe meet at someone's house, instead of paying for a church building. The only potential problem with this is that most people in modernized Western countries live in urban areas. So there would always be neighbors complaining about the noise and all of the cars parked on the side of the road. This idea might only work in the more rural areas.
Other ideas would be for two congregations to share a church building or for a congregation to rent a building for a few hours a week. Then there would be more money for charitable activities.

If all of the money we wasted on things we (DON'T NEED/USE) went to charities instead, what would the world look like? Don't point fingers on people for their wrong let's look at ourselves and fix the wrong.

My church feeds our local homeless on a daily basis, provides clothing and shelter and even acute medical care for the poor and the needy when no one else will or can and is about to finish the purchase of an apartment building for transitional housing.
Then again, we don't call it a "church", we're not Christians - we're a motley group of Heathens and Pagans of theistic and atheistic varieties - and it's not part of our varied religions. We're tax exempt but pay taxes anyway because we need a functioning fire department and roads for them to drive on in case our transitional housing complex catches fire. We do it because we can and because it's the decent thing to do.
I think the only people, religious or not, in this area that has us beat in the "aid to the poor and needy" department are the local Catholics (there's a LOT of Catholics) and the Salvation Army. It's a close call with the SA though. I'd have to see their financials.

My church saves money to go to Central American countries, so that we can build houses and establish clean water supplies. Do you?
