Does anyone know of a company that makes chunky unsweetened applesauce?

I am a diabetic and I need unsweetened applesauce because of the sugar in regular applesauce. Also I have had allergic reactions to artificial sweeteners except for saccharin. I prefer chunky applesauce.

What sugar? Read the label before you buy. The applesauce I buy has no sugar added and it isn't from the specialty food section. It's right there on the shelf with the other canned fruit products. I've never seen chunky applesauce. I believe it's called sauce precisely because it is not chunky. Make your own if you like applesauce with chunks in it and no added ugar. There's hardly anything easier to cook. But the apples will cook down all the same, into a sauce-like texture, unless you save some pieces to add later so they don't cook as long.

It is very easy to make apple sauce at home. Peel 3 or 4 fujii apples then core it or just cut it up into chunks. Put in a sauce pan with a 2 tablespoons of water. put the lid on turn on low heat. wait 10 minutes & check for doneness. if still hard - continue for 5 mins.

Many recipes call for sugar but it is not necessary with fujii since they are naturally sweet and crunchy as well. I also like large chunked apple sauce and that is how I make it.

Search "homemade apple sauce" in google or yahoo.

    good luck.
