Your husband is best to submit an application to sponsor you and at the same time you submit an application for sponsorship. If approved this will allow you to come and live permanently in Canada.

The average processing time including both parts of the application process is about 12 months.

You could certainly apply for a visitor visa to see if you might be allowed to visit Canada while the application is in process, but considering you have stated a desire to have your child in Canada and would be hoping to remain permanently the visa officer would likely have a hard time approving it. The reason is you do not appear to have dual intent - meaning you are a visitor and seeking to remain in Canada. You are not likely to depart at the end of your stay in Canada if the PR application were to be rejected if your child is born in Canada.

Also if you were to come to Canada for the child's birth the medical costs would not be covered so your husband would be responsible for paying those or you proving you have health insurance of your own to cover the cost.

Your child even if not born in Canada would be Canadian due to the father being a Canadian so when you are approved for your visa the baby need only have been registered as a birth abroad to be able to accompany you with proper documentation and need not be sponsored.
